Tesla violated labor laws with Elon Musk tweet, judge rules

On Friday, a U.S. judge found Tesla guilty of labor violations that interfered with union organization attempts by employees in 2017 and 2018. Among unlawful actions was a threatening tweet by Musk, who must now hold a meeting with California assembly plant workers explaining the decision and affirming their rights.

  1. Communication inside and out of the workplace has changed dramatically throughout time. With the introduction of social media, leaders and "influencers" hold a power that some may not know how to control. With the social and work environments changing currently, who knows how media contributes to future events.

  2. What were the laws that Tesla violated? I can understand why Musk would want to stop unionization, I would stop all unionization too if I could (Just quit your job and move to an expanding industry, I know it hurts in the short term but everyone benefits in the long run). What rights is Musk affirming? The right to quit your job if you don't like how much your being paid? Anyways, I am most curious to see how this affects Tesla's shares and how Musk will pivot this media coverage (he always seems to do an interesting job of that).

  3. It looks like Musk threatened to take away employee's stock options if they voted to unionize. Although this is definitely a violation of labor laws, it always seems like corporations are never held responsible for these kind of violations. Seeing that this is not the first time Musk has been under fire for these kind of allegations, I'm not too hopeful that drastic measures will be put in place to provide labor protection.
