Weekly Jobless Claims Fall More Than Expected

The amount of people that are filling applications for unemployment claims have fell which is a very good thing for the workforce. This shows that the workforce is stronger and is growing more than analysts expected or forecasted it to be. The number dropped by a very large 8,000 applications that were filled out. It dropped by more than half of what was forecasted, this can also be due to the strong job market conditions. They also cut interest rates for a third time so that this strong growth in the economy would be supported. My question is, do you expect this number to keep on decreasing?

  1. I expect it to keep decreasing. One of the main objectives of our presidents main was to decrease unemployment and create more jobs, from what I know he's been pretty successful at doing that so far. If more jobs keep coming and unemployment decreases more than the number should keep dropping.

  2. Yes because as of right now, even though job openings are falling, job hires are still increasing. The baby boomer generation is beginning to enter the age of retirement, so there will be many more jobs to come in the near future.

  3. This is a promising sight to see. Especially with the thought of a recession looming in the future, GDP did not slow down as much as it was expected to. On top of that, people are not filing for unemployment. It seems as thought we've hit a bit of a plateau with the unemployment rate; at least for the time being.
