Obamacare 2015 Rate Hikes May Soon Come Into View
This week health insurance companies will begin reporting their first quarter earnings. This information will be used to forecast for the the potential rise in premiums for the 2015 year under the Affordable Care Act. Although not all of the numbers are in yet alot of people are already wanting to know rates for next year. Consumers will begin to sign up for plans in the next open enrollment period that begins in November. Health Plans are sadly in a bit of a bind. Insurance companies are asking for rate hikes they won't yet disclose because they don't yet know the mix of patients they are signing up for this year, complicating the rate picture for 2015. For rates to not rise at an alarming rate there needs to be a substantial amount of young healy patients buying into the program. However the make up is still unclear. Over 400,000 people were allowed to sign up after the March 31st sign up deadline. This pushed the total number of people under the program to around 7.5 million.

In my opinion obamacare was a complete disaster. First off it had programing problems that didn't let it come online for some time after it was announced to be ready to go. Secondly health insurance companies took in the loss because of obamacares mistakes and the entire economy is paying for it. The program because of its flaws have drawn people away from affordable health care and has created even greater problems in American households.
ReplyDeleteFirst let me say, I am not at all in favor of socialized medicine. It lowers the value of doctors, and gets the government more involved in an arena it shouldn't be involved in. However, heath care is a huge problem. Right now, we already spend tax payer dollars to help those who need to go to the emergency room. There is no question that helping them earlier on in their sickness would be less expensive to society. So, once again, something needs to be done. Heath care is a very difficult issue. Not as easy as Obama care is socialist, and horrible. Even I was wrong.
