Defense cuts furloughs to 14 days, from 22

According to the article, the Pentagon announced fewer furlough days for civilian workers from the originally-planned 22 days to 14 days on Thursday. This is certainly good news for civilian workers who were under the threat of facing 22 days off between May and September, or a 20% pay cut for five months. The decrease softens the blow these workers are about to take, however it does not eliminate the tough budgeting decisions they are going to have to make. For many workers, this only means they will not be able to pay their student loans.
