City’s Jobless Rate Rises to 10.6%, Exceeding Nation’s
The unemployment rate in NYC is at 10.6 percent, which is the highest it has been since the start of the recession. Analysts say that it is not likely to curb before midyear, caused by the problems with small businesses and banks not lending them money right now. One positive is that some big financial firms are starting to make profit now so they are hiring slowly and cautiously. It is not over yet, but it seems that the recession is not going to get any worse in terms of unemployment.
