From Cloud to Clout

This article discusses the leaders of Microsoft stepping up and stepping down and the effect of that on the company's current economic standing. The company appointed Satya Nadella, who was head of Microsoft's cloud and enterprise group, as the Chief Executive and now Microsoft's Bill Gates will become a 'technology advisor' and no longer chairman.

From Cloud to Clout, Nadella boasts 9% increased revenues and 12.8% increased operating income in his division, making it the company's best performing divisions, reason to choose Nadella. And while it took almost more than half a year, this could be a good shift in power for Microsoft, potentially foreshadowing due to Nadella's previous stats and the contemporary shift of "desktops and corporate data centres to cloud software and remote servers".

  1. Satya Nadellas appointment as chief executive is a big move for Microsoft. A 9% increase of revenue and 12.8% increase of operating income is quite impressive. Nadellas appointment may be a smart move for Microsoft as former chief executive Bill Gates steps down to become a technology adviser. This move by Microsoft will change the market value of its stock. I am curious to see the the effect will be.

  2. As an owner of MSFT, I was quite pleased with the share price appreciation over the search period. Nadellas has a serious challenge ahead of him to continue that growth while the Company's market share declines.

  3. It seems like Microsoft has made the right move in appointing Nadellas. Hopefully, this growth will continue because I believe that Microsoft is behind Apple.

  4. Businesses exist to make profit and for Microsoft Company to appoint a new leader that was able to make a big contribution within a half a year is extraordinary. When you found such a leader, I would feel static for the future of my company. For Microsoft Company, I think they have found a key figure on within the company, and the company is heading to a prosperous future as Nadella continues to lead.

  5. I think that Microsoft is making a smart move, something that will allow them to grow. I think that it is true that they need to focus on services as just as important as devices.
