Trump strikes at the heart of the North Korean regime with speech

The US president Donald Trump visited South Korea to reiterate his stand on North Korea's constant missile tests, despite the warning. He did not use very derogatory terms, but talked more harshly about the North Korean situations. Trump's speech emphasized the inhumane treatments that happens in North Korea. The North Korean escapees who attended the speech was satisfied with what he said, since he addressed how terrible a situation is for the citizens of North Korea.

North Korea is probably not very stupid enough to start a war, since it is very less likely that they will be the victor. However if the war breaks out, the casualties will be large and South Korea, most of all, will have to suffer greatly due to the damages. The economy of South Korea is already receiving negative impacts due to rising tension between the two sides. Trump's firm reaction towards the issue is making war more likely to happen. If North Korea initiates the fight, the staggering South Korean economy will definitely face huge losses.

  1. I am glad to hear that those that had experienced North Korea were happy with the points the President made. The war is a scary thought especially with all the nuclear power that is being threatened. Do you think increasing tension between the sides will have any effect on the US economy?

    1. It would probably increase expenses on defense of US, but probably not very impactful, unless North Korea damages the assets of the US.

  2. Even though taking a hard stance with North Korea increases the likely hood of actual conflict (I.e. boots on the ground, bombing runs, etc.), there is really no other way to handle the situation. If Trump and the US were to be passive with North Korea, then they would basically see a green light to do whatever they please. This could include: building even more nuclear warheads that could actually reach the states, invading South Korea, treating their people even worse than they are now, etc. War is not always the answer to a conflict; however, when you are dealing with a power-crazed dictator who probably has the Napoleon complex, fighting fire with fire may be the only option.

  3. South Korea might get hurt from a war, but in the long run it is better for this to get over with. North Korea will always be a threat to them until they deal with it, and the damage they take in a war is well worth it for the long term economic security they will receive in return.
