Pessimism about the economy

There has been a lot of news recently pointing out that people feel rather pessimistic about the state of our economy. This article summarized six hypotheses about what can explain this pessimism.

  1. I definitely agree with the third hypothesis of the article. I do that a large portion of the pessimism stems from the media's perception and how people are very fast to only focus on the negative aspects. When I go to Apple News on my phone most of the articles highlighted are broadcasting negative headlines like increased gas prices, inflation, and interest rates. The media never touches on the hindsight and solely publihses articles that grab the viewer's attention. Like the article mentioned, if something is increased it is broadcasted and if it is decreasing it's not as widely publicized.
