Heading the Wrong Way

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/04/28/opinion/sunday/the-economy-is-heading-the-wrong-way.html?_r=0

This article is about the economy and how we are still not doing well. With the movie we are watching in class I found this fitting. A lot of people look at the numbers and say we are doing better but this article compares a lot of different factors and shows we are still struggling and numbers are not where analysts expected them to be. We have come a long way since the recession but still have a long way to go.

  1. I totally agree. I think what we have studied so far in class are fundamentals but only touched parts of the whole recession. There are numerous factors that can affect the outcome and it's take time for policies to be in effect. I believe we're on the right track but it will be a while until we fully recover

  2. The numbers show positive signs but they only show a big picture, while missing what is happening on the micro level. Analysts, especially on the federal side, usually take a more optimistic, best case scenario approach in order to keep public confidence high. With that said the policies that have been put in place often do take longer time to start producing desired outcomes and we will have to wait and see how effective they will be.

  3. Policies put in place by the Fed will take some time to have a positive effect, however the real problem is getting the consumers to reinvest in our economy. Until the Fed manages to convince the people that it is safe to invest, the economy as a whole will struggle.
